QUESTION #14 - AUGUST 10, 2009

It was a savory new gig that sped up my departure from the Pacific Northwest ... and delivered me back to the concrete jungle of New York City. I left with a heavy heart and the confirmation of what I've always known: that I'm meant to live in that part of the country down the road.

But for now duty beckons, a priority that was affirmed this morning when none other than the Big O, (and I don't mean that other one, a close second) Ms. Oprah Winfrey, walked into my office and said a brief hello to all us eager employees of her latest endeavor. Her upstanding use of a typically muddied medium is the reason I still do what I do. Today I was reminded I've got a little juice left. Which brings me to pose...

My big dream is to find fulfillment and contentment in my life as a choreographer. But no, I do not pursue it every day and it is time for me to begin a new approach to the situation at hand. Also, the fulfillment part can not be achieved if I don't find inner peace within myself. that is definitely not happening at the moment.

My big dream is to realize that my new position working with youth (my passion) once again and being able to unlock many of the injustices that happen with at-risk youth. Although a brand new (hasn't started), very small transition program, my dream is for others (people in general) see that how we incarcerate and treat our youth is not the answer and with a little more positive reinforcement and understanding we can strive for better alternatives or solutions to help the disenfranchised, gang-affiliated youth achieve greater success, responsibility and sense of worth, instead of locking them up and treating them like animals. As for do I pursue it everyday in a roundabout way, and more so come September (start of my program) however, I want to reach a lot more youth and more John Q Public than I am able to at this time.
